To train with Henk it has been astonishing. He really plans the whole lot from the stable at home to the showground. He gave me so much as a trainer and as a person. What really surprised me was his facility to express you the cause of mistakes during the course; always the accurate and not banal reason. I was also impressed on how he can teach lots not only at home but also throughout the show: we have been to Vilamoura for three weeks and each day of show he was teaching me more specifics.
I think at home they have a very consolidated system, everyone knows what to do and they all just do at their best. Every horse must train in his way and on his difficulties to give the best at shows. The horses work hard as athletes do, but they also have their “freedom” as horses.
Key elements I learned during the training period and for sure I will retain: to pay attention to details, from my position on the saddle to the feeling with the horse. To best plan my work at home to obtain better results at shows. To appreciate relaxed horses ( I always liked fresh horses, but I understand now that it’s easier to ride stress-free animals).
They are a fantastic family, all of them. Lisa helped me a lot when Henk was not there and also Kimberly, as stable manager supported me with all the bureaucracy.
