YRA at CSIO Roma Piazza di Siena

Twenty-four hours have passed, and we find ourselves still basking in the afterglow of the unforgettable Roman weekend. A journalist aptly described the Young Riders Academy (YRA) as "one of the most effective initiatives of recent years in the panorama of international show jumping," and we wholeheartedly concur.

The CSIO in Rome never fails to evoke intense emotions, particularly when the athletes deliver exceptional performances and achieve remarkable results. It is in these moments that the CSIO in Rome truly captivates us. Eight riders from the YRA family proudly represented their respective nations: Francesca, Jodie, Giampiero, Michael G, Mickey, Jack, Richard, and Gaj, competed as individual.

The Nations Cup, a thrilling edition, unfolded on the oval in Piazza di Siena with the winner being determined only after a jump-off following the two rounds.

Ireland and Italy found themselves in a thrilling showdown during the final act, the jump off, with Michael and HHS Calais representing Ireland, and Francesca and Cape Coral representing Italy. The Irish team emerged victorious, claiming their first-ever win in Piazza di Siena. Mickey, with his flawless performance, secured the third clear round in this additional round of jumps. Unfortunately, Francesca incurred a rail down in the combination, settling for a well-deserved place of honor.

A special mention goes to Giampiero, who achieved a perfect double clear round with his mount Max Van Lentz Schrans.

Michael Blake, the head of the Irish team, expressed his delight, saying, "Our victory in Piazza di Siena after ninety years of the Roman competition is truly historic. It is also significant that three of our team members have emerged from the Young Riders Academy, a project that Ireland takes very seriously to nurture talent and develop the necessary organizational skills for a brilliant career."

Michael G. Duffy shared his joy over the result, stating, "I am obviously thrilled with this outcome and immensely proud of my partner Clitschko, who has been by my side for six years. I was particularly impressed by the companionship and team spirit that flourished amongst us. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Young Riders Academy for providing us with this remarkable opportunity to shine."

Both Jodie and Richard also made an unforgettable debut in Piazza di Siena, securing fantastic victories in their respective competitions. Jodie showcased her exceptional talent by triumphing in the Thursday 150 class, while Richard delivered an outstanding performance to claim victory in the Small Grand Prix held on Saturday.

Another mention must be made for Gaj, who participated as an individual and showcased remarkable consistency and skill throughout the entire weekend. Gaj's performances were nothing short of impressive, as they delivered flawless rounds in every competition.

The CSIO in Rome provided a perfect platform for these rising stars to shine, and we are grateful for the opportunity the Organising Committee offered us.

Let's carry forward this momentum and strive for even greater achievements in the future!
