Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final: celebrating excellence and the journey behind it

A stage for the world’s elite

The Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final once again brings together the world’s best riders on one of the most prestigious stages in international showjumping. Created in 2001 and inspired by the ATP Finals, it celebrates excellence, precision and the long-term consistency required to remain at the top of the sport.

A YRA graduate among the contenders

Among this year’s ten athletes is Richard Vogel, returning to Geneva as one of the standout performers of the season, and as a proud graduate of the Young Riders Academy. His progression from the programme to the global stage reflects the Academy’s mission and the long-term support provided by Rolex.

“Without Rolex, the Young Riders Academy simply wouldn’t exist,” said YRA director Eleonora Ottaviani. “It requires sustained support, and Rolex has provided us with that.”

Building a complete professional

Vogel joined the Academy in 2020.

“The Rolex Young Riders Academy has two main components: a practical side and a theoretical side,” he explained. “I attended the theoretical lessons with top course designers, veterinarians and experts. The practical side includes mentorship, allowing riders to learn directly from leading professionals.”

“The Academy really helped me, not just with riding but also in managing my career,” he continued. “It opened my eyes to the responsibilities of a professional rider. With the YRA I learned a lot, improved, and I still continue to grow from that foundation.”

The exclusivity of the Top 10 Final

The Top 10 Final is one of the sport’s most exclusive competitions, reserved only for the ten highest-ranked riders in the world. For the Young Riders Academy, seeing Vogel among them is a powerful confirmation of how education, guidance and opportunity can shape future champions.

“Never let go of your dreams,” Vogel said. “Success doesn’t get handed to you. Hard work must be paired with a clear plan and structured effort.”

A programme focused on values and growth

For Eleonora Ottaviani, Vogel’s journey embodies the Academy’s purpose.

“Talent alone isn’t enough; we guide riders to embrace fair play and meritocracy,” she said. “Over the years, we have created a family-like community that supports one another and grows together.”

A moment of pride for YRA

As Geneva hosts the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final, the event celebrates excellence at the highest level, and for the Young Riders Academy, it also represents the pride of seeing one of its former students step into the arena as one of the world’s best.
