Sven Holmberg Reflects on 10 Years of Young Riders Academy

With a decade of Young Riders Academy behind us, we take a moment to reflect on its journey, achievements, and future, Sven Holmberg, Sport Manager of YRA, shared his reflections on the program’s achievements, challenges, and future.

"It has been a fabulous journey with all our Young Riders, and the celebration year showed a couple of ‘firsts’ that certainly make a mark."

A Decade of Achievements

Over the past ten years, YRA riders have reached extraordinary milestones, demonstrating the impact of the Academy. Among them, Harry Charles’ Olympic Gold Medal with the British team represents a historic moment. Another extraordinary achievement was Richard Vogel's participation in the Rolex IJRC Top Ten Final in Geneva, a testament to his consistency and professionalism at the highest level of the sport.

Beyond these remarkable accomplishments, many YRA graduates have risen to 5 international level*, competing at the most prestigious events across Europe and leaving their mark on the equestrian world.

A Celebration of a Decade

The 10-year celebration at La Fenice in Venice was not just a commemoration—it was an opportunity to strengthen and celebrate the YRA family. Riders, trainers, and industry professionals who have contributed to this journey came together, emphasizing the deep connections formed within the Academy.

"Celebrating our 10-year existence at La Fenice in Venice was an occasion that created new and stronger bonds within our Young Riders Family."

Looking Ahead to 2025

Now that we have transitioned into a new year, Young Riders Academy is already looking ahead. The selection process for the 2025 edition has begun, and an exceptional group of talented riders is preparing to take the next step toward joining the Academy.

"As we go into a new year, we have already opened the process to find a new group of talents that will continue to honor the Young Riders Academy."

The final selection will be held in March in the Netherlands, where a team of expert professionals will evaluate and select the next group of promising riders.

Entering its second decade, YRA remains committed to developing young talents into top professionals, both in and out of the saddle.

A special thank you goes to Rolex, whose continued partnership allows this initiative to flourish, and to the riders, trainers, and the wider equestrian community who support and believe in the mission of Young Riders Academy.

"We eagerly anticipate the future and the new heights our riders will achieve."
