Sweden 2025: Shaping Complete Riders Through Knowledge and Culture

Just a few weeks after the summer session in Lugano, the Young Riders Academy is ready for its next key stop: Strömsholm, Sweden. From September 8 to 11, the class of 2025 will experience four days of training, discovery, and reflection, combining equestrian science, economics, culture, and physical preparation.

As always, the location is not random. Strömsholm is one of Sweden’s most important equestrian hubs, rich in heritage and dedicated to excellence in horse sport. It offers the perfect environment to deepen the educational journey of the YRA riders, allowing them to grow far beyond the arena.

The session will open with a welcome by Sven Holmberg, one of the program’s founding figures, followed by an introduction to physical preparation led by Emma O’Dwyer, the Academy’s trusted physiotherapist. Emma will accompany the group throughout the session, helping the riders develop greater awareness of their posture, balance, and physical resilience.

Throughout the week, the riders will explore a wide range of topics designed to foster a 360-degree understanding of equestrian sport. Economic awareness will be addressed in modules dedicated to the costs and planning behind developing young horses, with insights shared by Sven and horse expert Py Jägerden. Equine science will come into play thanks to Lars Roepstorff, who will guide the group through an in-depth look at footing and biomechanics.

The program also includes moments dedicated to horse training techniques, such as long-rein work with Karin Morgan, as well as a hands-on shoemaking demo with Axel Vibe. These moments underline how horsemanship includes not only theory and athleticism, but also craft, intuition, and tradition.

To reinforce their professional skills, the riders will take part in one-on-one mentoring sessions and explore how storytelling and content creation play a role in building their public image. Social media and communication expert Giulia Romeo will lead a practical workshop on how to communicate with purpose and authenticity in the digital age.

Finally, the last day will bring a field trip to SLU Uppsala, where the group will dive into veterinary science. Malin Connysson and Marie Rodhin will guide them through sessions on equine nutrition, lameness, and practical diagnostics, offering access to cutting-edge research and clinical practice.

Once again, the YRA confirms its mission: preparing young athletes not only to compete, but to understand, lead, and shape the future of the sport they love.
