BACK IN THE SADDLE: THREE DAYS WITH FRANKE SLOOTHAAK IN PEELBERGEN

Peelbergen, The Netherlands | 12 October 2026

Just a few weeks after the Educational Seminar in Strömsholm, Sweden, the Young Riders Academy Class of 2026 is back in the saddle for another important step in its journey.

Today marks the beginning of a three-day clinic with legendary show jumper and trainer Franke Sloothaak at Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in the Netherlands, running from 12 to 14 October.

Unlike the previous educational sessions, this appointment is dedicated almost entirely to practical training, offering the riders the opportunity to focus on their horses, refine their techniques and put what they have learned into practice.

THREE DAYS OF HANDS-ON TRAINING

Over the next three days, the riders will work closely with Franke Sloothaak in small groups, allowing for personalised feedback and an individual approach to each horse-and-rider combination.

The programme includes training sessions with both young and more experienced horses, focusing on technical precision, effective communication and the ability to adapt to different situations in the arena.

Each session will be an opportunity to identify areas for improvement, explore new approaches and gain practical insights that riders can take home and integrate into their everyday training.

UNDERSTANDING THE COURSE

One of the highlights of the clinic will be Tuesday’s course-building session with renowned international course designer Louis Konickx.

By exploring the principles behind course design, the riders will have the opportunity to better understand distances, lines and technical challenges from a different perspective, adding another valuable dimension to their work in the saddle.

FROM KNOWLEDGE TO PRACTICE

After months of educational activities, technical lessons and shared experiences, the Peelbergen clinic brings the focus back to the arena, where attention to detail and consistent practice make the difference.

Working alongside Franke Sloothaak offers the young athletes a valuable opportunity to challenge themselves, ask questions and continue developing their skills through direct experience.

Three days dedicated to horses, training and progress. The Young Riders Academy journey continues in Peelbergen!
